Planned Giving - Ways to Give

Ways to Give

Will or Trust

When preparing your will or trust, include a gift of a specific sum or a percentage of your estate to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington, Indiana, Inc. When updating an existing document, add a codicil to your will or an amendment to your trust to include a gift to the Church.

Retirement Plan, IRA, or Life Insurance

If you have a retirement plan or IRA, it is easy to designate the Church as a beneficiary without changing your will. Request a beneficiary designation form from the retirement plan or IRA administrator and add the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington, Indiana, Inc. as the beneficiary of a specific sum or a percentage of the account. Call the church office if you need the church’s tax identification number and be sure to return the completed form to your plan administrator.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A Charitable Gift Annuity lets you receive income during your life, and the principal of the gift comes to the Church upon your death.

Directing Your Gift

Undesignated Gifts

An undesignated gift gives the church greatest flexibility, as it may be used for whatever needs are most pressing.  Unless you direct otherwise, the church will divide your gift equally between special purposes and operating funds, and the endowment and general fund of each.

Designated Gifts

If you wish to designate your gift for a specific purpose, complete a Gift Agreement form, available from the church office.  A completed form is especially important if your gift comes through a retirement plan or IRA, as you cannot include designations on the Beneficiary Designation form.  If your gift comes through your will, state your directive there so that your executor is aware of your wishes.

For More Information

Consult your attorney and/or financial advisor. Your retirement plan or IRA administrator can help you with the beneficiary designation form. Members of the Planned Giving Committee are happy to give you general information, but not legal, tax, or financial advice.
